Why Video Should Be Your Top Priority In 2020

September 25, 2019

We’ve been hearing it for a while now, video is king. It’s the number one way to share content online because it’s eye-catching, highly engaging, and tells a story.

As it turns out, consumers love a good story. And marketers have taken note. According to new research, over 1,000 creative and digital marketing decision-makers say video is their top priority in 2020

What we’re saying is video is no longer just an option”; it is the option.

So much so that 67% of digital marketers and creatives consider video marketing as their top priority.

So, you make a cool video and you just post it and you’re all set, right? Not exactly…

Because where you post it matters.

It’s no secret most consumers and brands use social media. It plays a huge role in our lives. But with so many social media platforms, which one benefits your brand the most?

The two major types of video that marketers expect to invest the most time in on social are Instagram stories (66%) and newsfeed videos (62%).

If your brand isn’t on Instagram, you probably (no, definitely) need to reconsider. Instagram allows you to connect directly with your target audience. One of the most popular tools on Instagram is the Story feature. Stories are videos or pictures that stay on the app for 24 hours. Need proof of how popular Stories actually is? A cool 500 million people use Instagram Stories every day. So, get on Instagram and start posting Stories to connect with your customers and prospects!

The other major type of video is newsfeed videos. Those are what you see when you’re scrolling through Facebook at work (don’t worry, we won’t tell). These videos grab your attention and usually autoplay with captions since 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound. That means the opening must not only be entertaining but also engaging to keep the viewer’s attention!

Okay, so your brand is using Instagram Stories and posting newsfeed videos on Facebook. Great! However, all videos are not created equal. There are numerous types of video — live, trade shows, customer reference, etc. — you should be exploring as well. Curious to learn more about which type of video will benefit your brand?
